What this is
A visitor visa lets you ask to enter the U.S. for a short business trip or holiday. You fill in a form online called the DS-160, pay a fee and go to an interview. Right now the U.S. Embassy in Kampala has paused visa services, and we could not find an official notice saying they have restarted. Nobody can promise you an appointment or a visa.
Steps
- Check the current Kampala visa status first
Read the official State Department notice and the U.S. Embassy in Uganda website before doing anything else. Visa services in Kampala were paused from May 18, 2026, and we could not confirm they have restarted. State Department: visa pause notice - Fill in Form DS-160 online
Complete the DS-160 on the official State Department site and keep the confirmation page. Each traveller needs their own application. You need the confirmation page for your interview. State Department: Form DS-160 - Check the official fee
Look up the current visitor visa fee on the official State Department fees page. Pay only through the official payment process. EtuWise has not yet confirmed the current amount. State Department: visa fees - Book an interview only when booking reopens
